Raccoons are famous for their mask-like faces and curious personalities. They are nighttime explorers who are always searching for snacks, from berries and insects to anything they can find near people. In Fort Bend County, raccoons are a common part of local wildlife, especially near trees and water sources.
Raccoons have extremely sensitive paws and can “feel” food in the dark.
They are excellent climbers and can even climb down trees head-first.
A group of raccoons is sometimes called a “gaze.”
Population Status

How to Help
Secure trash cans, don’t leave pet food outside, and enjoy raccoons from a distance (they’re cute, but still wild!).
